Summer is wrapping up and the temperature is finally starting to drop here.  Its been an incredibly rainy year and it shows no sign of letting up.  Last week, a storm hovered over Baton Rouge and drenched the south.  The result was devastating.  The rivers swelled and couldn’t empty into already full bayous and lakes.  I’ve been buying produce from the Baton Rouge area all summer and was devastated to learn that local farmers and the community lost so much.

Meanwhile, we’ve taken in a few friends and are trying to stay active throughout the process.  Next week, we’ll head to Baton Rouge and help with the cleanup.  We’ve made a few trips back and forth to collect valuables, which means we’re usually on the go.  I’ve been packing salad for lunch and dinner, which allows us to have a quick meal and stay active.

Since we are naturally busy during this time, it’s important for the produce I bought to stays fresh longer.  We’re replenishing ourselves during this time with fresh lettuce and berries.  It’s on sale right now and I’ve stocked up to allow us to continue to be active throughout the month.

Eating healthy is part of our everyday life.  When it heats up here, we eat salad.  With autumn just a few weeks away, we’ll continue to have simple, healthy and refreshing salads to stay healthy.  I’ve been using the Rubbermaid® FreshWorks™ Produce Saver for 6 months now and it’s a game changer!

Berry Mozzarella Salad

Rubbermaid® FreshWorks™ Produce Saver is a brand new food storage container that uses revolutionary FreshVent™ technology to keep produce fresher up to 80% longer (when compared to store packaging).  The containers are BPA free and dishwasher safe which makes clean up that much easier.  Product comes in three sizes including small ($9.99), Medium ($12.99) and Large ($15.99)

Rubbermaid® Freshworks™ Produce Saver uses Revolutionary FreshVent™ Technology which is a patented membrane that naturally regulates the flow of O2 and CO2 thanks to the CrispTray™ included with each package.  It creates the optimal environment to keep your produce nearly as fresh as the day it was picked.

That means that while traditional store packaging fails after a few days due to moisture issues, Rubbermaid® Freshworks™ Produce Saver works to evenly distribute and control the moisture level in the container that leads to longer lasting food.  With produce lasting longer, I can stock up of fresh produce and do less grocery shopping during the month.
