4 Sandwich Recipes for Your next Picnic

Four different varieties of sandwiches made for a picnic, cocktail party or outdoor barbecue bash. Each recipe starts with the same bread and uses simple, everyday ingredients such as fresh veggies, deli meat and Sargento® Sliced Cheese. Be sure to serve a Turkey Club, Cheddar BLT, Turkey Cheddar Apple or Chicken Salad Sandwich for any summer sandwich occasion.

Ingredients

  • Turkey Club
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 3 slices toasted bread
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise , divided
  • 1 + 1/2 teaspoons honey mustard condiment , divided
  • 1/2 avocado , peeled, pitted, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 2 thick slices turkey
  • 1 + 1/2 slices Sargento® Sliced Cheese , Sharp Cheddar
  • 1 + 1/2 slices Sargento® Sliced Cheese , Colby - Jack
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Cheddar BLT Sandwich
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 2 slices toasted bread
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/2 avocado , peeled, pitted, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 + 1/2 slices Sargento® Sliced Cheese , Sharp Cheddar
  • 1-2 thick slices tomato
  • Kale
  • Turkey Apple Cheddar Sandwich
  • 2 slices toasted bread
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon honey mustard condiment , divided
  • 3/4 Gala apple , thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 thick slices turkey
  • 1 + 1/2 slices Sargento® Sliced Cheese , Sharp Cheddar
  • 1 + 1/2 slices Sargento® Sliced Cheese , Pepper Jack
  • Kale
  • Chicken Salad Sandwich
  • 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup (3.4 oz) chopped deli chicken
  • 1/3 cup chopped red grapes
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 + 1/2 slices Sargento® Sliced Cheese , Pepper Jack
  • 2 slices toasted bread
  • Kale
  • Salt , to taste
  • Pepper , to taste

Instructions

  • Turkey Club
  • Cut 3 slices bacon in half and cook on stove top over medium heat, flipping once until done. Set on paper towel to drain; set aside.
  • Meanwhile, toast 3 slices bread then spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on each slice. Spread 1/2 teaspoon honey mustard over the mayonnaise on each slice of bread.
  • Slice avocado in half then peel, remove pit and slice thinly. Toss with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice. Slice 2 pieces of tomato or 1 if the tomato is large enough fit across bread.
  • To assemble, place 1 slice bread on the bottom, mayonnaise side up. Top with a thick slice of turkey (trim edge, if needed). Place to 1 + 1/2 slices Sargento® Sliced Cheese, Sharp Cheddar on top then follow with tomato and avocado slices. Place another piece of bread on top. Top with sliced turkey, Sargento® Sliced Cheese Colby - Jack, lettuce and sliced pieces of bacon. Place another piece of bread on top.
  • Cheddar BLT Sandwich
  • Cut 3 slices bacon in half and cook on stove top over medium heat, flipping once until done. Set on paper towel to drain; set aside.
  • Meanwhile, toast 2 slices bread then spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise onto each slice of bread.
  • Slice half of an avocado into slices and tossed with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice. Cut 1-2 slices tomato to fit bread.
  • To assemble, place 1 slice of bread on the bottom, mayonnaise side up. Top with kale and 1 + 1/2 slices Sharp Cheddar Cheese. Place tomato slices, avocado and bacon slices on top then cover with 1 slice of bread.
  • Turkey Apple Cheddar Sandwich
  • Thinly slice 3/4 of Gala apple and toss with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice; set aside.
  • Lightly toast 2 slices of bread then spread 1/2 tablespoon + 1/2 teaspoon mayonnaise onto each slice of bread. Spread 1/2 teaspoon honey mustard onto each slice of bread.
  • To assemble, place 1 slice of bread on the bottom, mayonnaise side up. Top with a thick turkey slice, trimming edges if needed. Place 1 + 1/2 slices Sharp Cheddar Cheese on top. Layer thinly sliced apple slices on top then cover with another slice of turkey. Top with 1 + 1/2 slices Pepper Jack Cheese and kale. Top with 1 slice of bread.
  • Chicken Salad Sandwich
  • Toast 2 slices bread.
  • In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt, lemon juice and mayonnaise. Stir in chopped red grapes, dried cranberries and chopped deli chicken; mix to coat well.
  • To assemble, place 1 + 1/2 slices Pepper Jack Cheese on top of bread followed by a handful of kale. Carefully top with chicken mixture then top with bread.
