Apple Dumplings with Caramel Sauce
Fresh cinnamon sugar apples baked in flaky pastry with spoonfuls of homemade caramel sauce. These warm and comforting Apple Dumplings are great by themselves or served with vanilla ice cream.
Apple dumplings were such a favorite for our family that we would make a whole meal just out of these. While it may seem like the perfect fall comfort food and is, this dessert is great year round here in New Orleans and across the southern United States. It is a delicious southern staple and one that I enjoy frequently.
This recipe is super simple and easy to make and the apple are to die for! I love the way the crust bakes in the oven then is drizzles with a generous spoonful or two of homemade caramel sauce. Eat this simple but scrumptious dessert when it is fresh from the oven.
It’s warm, sweet and a little flaky which makes these one of my favorite apple desserts. Although making apple dumplings isn’t difficult, it does take a little preparation time. To save some time, use refrigerated pie crust.
Once you taste it, you will know your time was well spent.
