I love chocolate chip cookies and brownies.  In fact, I love anything chocolate!  Here is the next best thing; part brownie and part cookie combined and baked into 1 delicious bar!
Cookie Ingredients:
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups of chocolate chips
Brownie Base:
1 cup butter, melted
3 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
¾ cup cocoa
1 cup flour
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
pinch of salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F, and grease a 9×13 pan.  Cover with parchment paper for easy removal.
To make brownies, in a medium bowl of a stand mixer, mix butter, both sugars, cocoa and eggs until the batter is glossy. Mix in the remaining ingredients until well incorporated.  Pour into the prepared pan.
For the cookie dough, in a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended.  Mix in the vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy.  Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended and combined. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
Drop cookie dough onto the brownie batter.  Don’t worry too much about creating an even layer.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, checking frequently so the cookie layer do not burn.  They are ready when a toothpick shows the brownie layer is baked and the cookie layer begins to set.  Remove and allow to cool for 15-20 minutes.  Store in an air tight container.
