Food plays an important role at the dinner table and at school. It’s the foundation of our family. It’s coming together for breakfast or dinner as a family and sharing the only time we may have together in our busy lives. We come together to catch up on daily activities and talk about our goals for the week. Did you know, based on a 2014 study, there are 48 million people in the United States living in food insecure households? 15 million alone are children. No child should ever have to worry about where the next meal will come from.
We all know people in our community and across America who struggle to put food on the table each and every day. Being able to give back and help those in need holds a place near and dear to my heart. I’ve watched many people through life make this struggle day in and day out.
The 4th annual Hunger Heroes Tyson Back to School program at Sam’s Club is hosting a charitable cause that highlights Child Hunger. For every food item sold of specifically marked packages, Tyson Foods will donate a serving of protein (4 oz.) to a child in need. Tyson is expanding the donation from 360k meals from last year to 1MM meals this year!
Throughout college, I struggled to put food on the table for myself for a few months. If it wasn’t for food programs like this and my extended family, I’m not sure I would have made it through those trying times in my life. Because of my past and other’s, I have first-hand knowledge of child hunger and I’m very passionate about doing my part to give back.
Tyson Foods and Sam’s Club are teaming up to fight hunger. They’ve donated 1 Million meals over the last few years. Help us double that and donate 1 Million this year alone.
The Tyson Back to School program at Sam’s Club has a variety of food products that apply to the program, as follows:
Tyson® Chicken Nuggets
Tyson® Crispy Strips
Tyson® Popcorn Chicken
Jimmy Dean® Pancakes & Sausage
State Fair® Corn Dogs
Jimmy Dean® Mini Pancake Sandwiches
Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hashbrowns
Tyson® Frozen Chicken Breasts
I love to stock up on a few of these items because they make for an easy and convenient option for breakfast, snack, and dinner. It’s ideal for busy lives because most of these items can be made in 20 minutes or less. There are options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks that offer quick and convenient options.
Be sure to buy only the above food products (listed above) with the “Be A Hunger Hero” label on the box, as seen below.
I was able to stock up on Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hash Browns and Tyson® Popcorn Chicken as both these support the “Be a Hunger Hero” campaign that runs from 7/26/2016 through 9/26/2016. Brands that support this mission will include the “Be a Hunger Hero” logo on the package, as seen above and below.
Tyson®, Jimmy Dean® and State Fair® are participating brands who support this mission at Sam’s Club. With school out for the summer and kids at home, these supported Hunger Hero food brands are a great option to feed the family throughout the day.
It’s incredibly important that children are fed three meals a day. Children need food to perform in school. I can’t imagine going hungry day after day while trying to succeed in school. My heart hurts knowing children are going to school hungry and coming home with no food on the table. However, that can stop today! What I love about this campaign is that you get food while also giving back.
It couldn’t be simpler to get involved. Head to your local Sam’s Club and stock up on participating Hunger Hero products. Out of every purchase made, Tyson Foods will donate 4 ounces of protein to a child in need.
Will you head to your local Sam’s Club and be a #HungerHeroes? Together, we can help end child hunger.
