Maple Bacon Pumpkin Seeds

Sweet, salty Maple Bacon Pumpkin Seeds recipe using the seeds from an autumn pumpkin. This easy pumpkin seed recipe uses real maple syrup and bacon grease tossed together with raw or dry roasted pumpkin seeds. The roasted seeds are then seasoned with a quick from scratch bacon salt recipe using the leftover bacon and a little salt. A crunchy, sweet and salty snack recipe with outrageous flavor.

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces ( 1 1/2 cups) unsalted roasted pumpkin seeds
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 2 tbsp melted bacon grease
  • 2 tsp maple flavoring
  • 6 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp light corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Cook bacon in a skillet on the stovetop or in a 400°F oven for 20 minutes.
  • Combine and mix together melted bacon grease from cooked bacon, pure maple syrup, maple flavoring (if using), pumpkin seeds, corn syrup, and granulated sugar. 
  • Bake in a 275°F oven for 10 minutes, using a spatula to flip seeds halfway through baking.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 250°F and bake for another 15-20 minutes. Use a spatula to flip seeds halfway through baking.
  • To make the bacon salt, finely chop, crumble or add bacon and salt to a food processor until small crumbs result.
  • Remove pan from the oven.
  • Allow the maple bacon pumpkin seeds to cool and harden slightly, occasionally tossing with a spatula until mostly dry. Pumpkin seeds will have mild candied texture.
  • Toss with the homemade bacon salt.

Notes

Store in an air-tight container for up to 2-3 weeks.
