Strawberry Angel Food Cake Kabobs
Easy Angel Food Cake Kabobs with sliced cake, fresh blueberries and strawberries threaded onto a skewer and tossed with strawberries in syrup and whipped cream. Ideal as a snack, dessert or to serve for the holidays and special occasions.
The perfect summer snack starts with whipped cream and strawberries. This light tasting cake made with sweet berries is great to make for spring and summer holidays like Mother’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day and if you’re anything like me, you’ll eat it as a snack. It’s also great for all those summer graduation parties, cookouts, dinner parties and just about every other special occasion. What I love about this recipe is how easy it is to make and carry as a snack, weather as a kabob or in a bowl, it’s delicious to snack on.
This time of year I love to get the family together and head over to a family farm nearby where we pick our blueberries and strawberries, although it may be a few weeks early for the blueberries yet. However, my motivation for early picking is to get these fruit kabobs setup in time for Memorial Day later this month. Strawberries are ready to be picked as early as April here and I’ll be picking a nice haul to take home.
Since I’ll be heading back to the farm the last weekend before Memorial Day, I want to keep these berries as fresh as possible for the skewers. Keeping fresh produce is always a challenge, mostly because it spoils before I can get to it. However, since I’ve been using the Rubbermaid® Freshworks™ storage containers, produce lasts three times as long as traditional stored fruits and vegetables.
These blueberries from the store went right into the container so I wasn’t left with spoilage days later. Such a fresh haul of fruit deserves to stay as fresh as the first day I got it and these storage containers really do work.
Rubbermaid® FreshWorks™ Produce Saver is a brand new food storage container that uses revolutionary FreshVent™ technology to keep produce fresher up to 80% longer (when compared to store packaging). The containers are BPA free and dishwasher safe which makes clean up that much easier. Product comes in three sizes including small ($9.99), Medium ($12.99) and Large ($15.99).
Most of the strawberries were able to make it into the storage containers, but I few didn’t. As I hate to waste fresh produce on spoilage like this.
Rubbermaid® Freshworks™ Produce Saver uses Revolutionary FreshVent™ Technology which is a patented membrane that naturally regulates the flow of O2 and CO2 to create the optimal environment to keep your produce nearly as fresh as the day it was picked.
I can never have a enough fresh fruit on hand for the week. What produce in your fridge is always the first thing tossed due to spoilage?
What are some of your favorite snacks to make with fresh produce?

WOW!!!! those pots are amazing!!!! I always end up with a few mushy strawberries at the end of the punnet!!! I wonder if they do them in Australia!!!
And these kebobs! They would be perfect as a lunchbox treat 🙂
Such a neat concept, berries can be so hard to keep fresh!
Cake… and strawberries… in a kebob! I love it. Handheld food always wins in my opinion.
I love the idea of vented tupperware for longer freshness! So clever. These kabobs are so yum 🙂
Thanks, It’s a lifesaver and makes the food taste so much better!
