I can’t tell you how many times I wish I had this Ranch Snack Mix on hand to bring to summer parties the past few weeks. It’s such an easy appetizer and hearty snack to make for a crowd and I love that this recipe is a classic, too. I grew up eating Chex Snack Mix and over time, I’ve added my favorite Ranch seasoning to the nibbler mix for an added twist.
Y’all, it has been raining in NOLA for 3 weeks and I’m in a bit of a funk. I have friends coming into town and this rain is just too much. Don’t get me wrong, I long for the days of reading a good book while the rain taters against the rooftop but at some point, life must go on!
I just got back to NOLA a few weeks ago after spending 2 months in Wisconsin and I’m dreading this weather, especially since it looks like it will be here to stay. On the other hand, this rain has given me time to clean every corner of the house and now I’m finally stocking our emergency hurricane kit. Only the essentials will make the cut and that includes this healthy snack Ranch Chex Mix!
I made a big batch of this seasoned snack mix and it will keep stored in the pantry until November.
But, don’t worry, this is the second batch I’ve made this week because it’s really delicious! I’m also stocking the pantry with these Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Balls, these Strawberry Oatmeal Jam Bars. I can’t believe it has been 1 year since we flooded in a heavy rainfall. You can read more about that crazy experience here and also get the recipe for these insanely delicious Oatmeal Fig Bars.
To bring this healthy snack trail mix together, I add extra ranch seasoning, mustard powder, grated parmesan, and dried parsley to the top before serving. The seasoning mix adds a zesty, robust yet flavorful taste that can’t be beaten.
This cheesy Chex snack mix is also perfect for long road trips. I’ll be heading out to San Antonio to visit my sister next month and it’s an 8-hour car drive one-way. Matt and I will be making a stop in Houston to visit friends but then we have our hearts set on visiting my sister’s new food truck, The Slider Shack.
We’ll be there to watch the ribbon cutting, something the community does to celebrate new business owners. I know this ranch snack mix will help curb hunger during the long road trip!
If you’re looking for a quick snack to bring to a party, school lunch snack ideas, pack for a road trip, or to make for movie night, then this ranch cheese snack is for you. Even better, it can be made with ingredients you like. Sometimes, I like to skip the oyster crackers or peanuts and opt for Fritos or Bugles. Otherwise, the pretzels, peanuts, rice cereal, and cheese crackers taste delicious with this blended seasoning. Plus, it’s good with peanuts like pecans, walnuts, sliced almonds, cashews, and macadamia nuts.
Skip store-bought mustard pretzels and snack mixes and try this kid-friendly gourmet Ranch Chex Mix for your next party!
This ITALIAN CHEX MIX is the next best thing! Plus, you’ll love this CAJUN CHEX MIX for football parties, holiday parties, and Christmas. If you’re a fan of this Ranch Chex Mix and want to try the other versions, too.

I am not a fan of the chex cereals but make mine with Chrispix.
What is mustard powder? Like just dry mustard?
Yes
I’m personally not a fan of Chex type cereal. Any suggestions on what I could substitute for it?
Corn flakes or any other bland cereal that is not sweet.
How long will this recipe stay good for?
Several weeks in an air-tight container. To re-crisp or reseason, simply add more melted butter or oil and toss with the seasoning in the bottom of the bag then rebake it for 10-15 minutes.
Very good! Thanks for posting this recipe!!!
Cassie, it sounds like your oven is too hot. Turn it down to 200 degrees and try that next time. You might want to invest in an oven thermometer to check how high your oven is really cooking and then adjust the temp manually to reach that degree.
My mix didn’t all fit on a large jelly roll sheet? should I have used 2? it was mounded up.
Yes, 2 sheets or just cook in batches!
How did you like the flavor?
The flavor is bold and delicious!
I would eat the entire bowl myself!! .. unapoligetically, too may I add! Great recipe .. super easy, super creative and looks so addictive
What a great easy to make snack!! Perfect for the footy season!
This looks, literally, too good. I know myself well enough to know I can’t be trusted around any recipe that uses the words “ranch” and “chex mix.” But it would be perfect for bringing to a party!
Yum! I bet this is hard to stop eating. I’ve eaten some good mixes like this but haven’t tried making it. Thanks for the recipe!
I haven’t had chex mix in years and now I’m craving it. Your recipe looks awesome – I’m sure it would go over really well at my house!
This is absolutely perfect for football season that starts in a couple of weeks.
These have all my favorite munchies all in one bowl! I love the ranch flavor mix addition. I can’t wait to make a big batch of this.
This looks so addictive. I wish I could grab some right now. I can have this anytime of the day. Yummy!
Oh Yes! The mustard powder and ranch seasoning is right down my alley. I’d lose all self control snacking on this!
The perfect party mix loaded with everything I love! Does it get any better than a ranch-flavored snack? Love this!
Ugh! Yes, please! This looks like the perfect party snack.
What a perfect snack! I wish I could just grab it off the screen! Perfect for sharing, and great crowd pleaser!
I would literally eat this whole bowl if it was in front of me. Chex Mix is one of those foods that I just can’t stop eating. Topped with ranch seasoning and that is game over for me! This would be soooo great to bring to a friends house or gathering. 🙂
