A rich and creamy 7-ingredient chocolate chip strawberry cheesecake ball. The perfect party appetizer to serve to a crowd. A dessert that’s easy to make by beating cream cheese, strawberry jello powder, and powdered sugar together in a mixing bowl then chilling the cheese until it’s solid and then rolling it in its iconic round shape with chocolate toppings.
If you’re looking to bring a simple yet tasty new treat to a party or to make for a special occasion with your kids, you’ll want to try this cheese ball. Not only is it easy to prepare, but it’s also easy to put your own spin on it with a variety of different toppings to roll it in. I like to serve it as a dip alongside other desserts or appetizers and share it with friends.
How to Make a Cheesecake Ball

- Place in a bowl. Cover, and refrigerate 1 hour.
- Roll the cheese into a ball. Refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.
- Reshape ball. Freeze for 45 minutes.
- Mix together mini chocolate chips and crushed oreo crackers.
- Roll the ball in toppings until coated.
- Chill until ready to serve.
- Serve with graham crackers or fresh fruit.
Ingredients
■ CREAM CHEESE: I buy the blocks of cream cheese. Soften the cheese by leaving it out on the countertop for 45 minutes or cut it into chunks and microwave it for 30-45 seconds. This will make it easier to beat without any chunks remaining in the texture.
■ STRAWBERRY JELLO: A box of strawberry jello powder infuses the perfect amount of strawberry flavor. Using real strawberries won’t work well in this recipe because it will add too much moisture to the cream cheese and won’t hold in the shape of a ball. Alternatively, swapping jello powder with freeze-dried strawberries may work.
■ POWDERED SUGAR: Using this sugar will sweeten the cream cheese.
■ CHOCOLATE CHIPS: I’m using mini chocolate chips. This way, enough chocolate chips are packed into each bite. In addition, crushed oreo cookies or chocolate graham crackers work to fill in the gaps and adds additional flavor and texture.
■ SERVING: I like to serve this strawberry jello dessert ball with strawberries, pretzels, graham crackers, and waffle ice cream cones broken into pieces.
